02.10.2025 : Het Nieuwe Uitleenplatform voor Leidenaren gaat Online. Leidenaar David van Batenburg heeft het initiatief genomen om een uniek uitleenplatform te lanceren voor de bewoners van Leiden: LeidenLeent.
English follows the Dutch text Dit platform biedt inwoners de mogelijkheid om spullen te lenen of uit te lenen, waarmee de stad een stap dichterbij komt bij een duurzamer gebruik van middelen. Het idee voor het platform ontstond bij David toen hij zich realiseerde dat een behangstomer die hij jaren geleden had gekocht, vijf jaar ongebruikt in zijn kast stond. “Het was zonde dat zo’n nuttig apparaat niet gedeeld kon worden met anderen in de buurt die het wel af en toe nodig hadden. Dit bracht me op het idee om LeidenLeent op te zetten,” vertelt David, die geboren en getogen is in Leiden.

LeidenLeent gesteund door gemeente
De gemeente Leiden zag het potentieel van David’s idee en kende een flinke subsidie toe binnen het initiatief ‘Circulair Herwaarderen’. Deze financiële steun maakte het mogelijk om het platform verder te ontwikkelen en breder onder de inwoners van Leiden bekend te maken. De gemeente benadrukte in haar toekenning dat LeidenLeent bijdraagt aan een duurzamer en socialer gebruik van goederen binnen de stad.

Wat is LeidenLeent?
LeidenLeent is een gebruiksvriendelijk platform waar Leidenaren hun spullen kunnen lenen of uitlenen. Van gereedschap, zoals boormachines en ladders, tot tuinaccessoires en babyspullen, LeidenLeent biedt een oplossing voor het delen van items die je maar af en toe nodig hebt. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan het lenen van een tent voor een weekendje weg of een statafel voor een feestje. Het platform biedt gebruikers de mogelijkheid om items beschikbaar te stellen voor mensen in hun buurt, of zelfs alleen voor individuele adressen. Ook kunnen spullen tijdelijk op "pauze" worden gezet, bijvoorbeeld als ze al uitgeleend zijn of wanneer iemand op vakantie gaat.

Aanmelden en deelname
Vanaf 10 oktober 2025 worden de inwoners van Leiden uitgenodigd zich aan te melden bij LeidenLeent en hun spullen te delen of uit te lenen via het platform. De registratie is eenvoudig en gratis via leidenleent.nl, en gebruikers kunnen direct beginnen met het aanbieden of zoeken van items in hun omgeving. David hoopt met LeidenLeent een grotere community van duurzame en behulpzame inwoners te creëren, waarbij mensen niet alleen spullen delen, maar ook een sterker sociaal netwerk opbouwen. “LeidenLeent is niet alleen praktisch, maar ook een manier om onze stad nog hechter en duurzamer te maken,” aldus David.

LeidenLeent / Leiden Lends goes online
The New Lending Platform for Leiden Residents Goes Online. Leiden resident David van Batenburg has taken the initiative to launch a unique lending platform for Leiden residents: LeidenLeent. This platform offers residents the opportunity to borrow or lend items, bringing the city one step closer to a more sustainable use of resources. David came up with the idea for the platform when he realized that a wallpaper steamer he had bought years ago had been sitting unused in his closet for five years. "It was a shame that such a useful device couldn't be shared with others in the neighborhood who needed it occasionally. This gave me the idea to set up LeidenLeent," says David, who was born and raised in Leiden.

LeidenLeent Supported by the Municipality
The municipality of Leiden saw the potential of David's idea and awarded a substantial grant within the "Circular Revaluation" initiative. This financial support made it possible to further develop the platform and make it more widely known among Leiden residents. In its award, the municipality emphasized that LeidenLeent contributes to a more sustainable and socially responsible use of goods within the city.

What is LeidenLeent?
LeidenLeent is a user-friendly platform where residents of Leiden can borrow or lend their belongings. From tools, such as drills and ladders, to garden accessories and baby items, LeidenLeent offers a solution for sharing items you only need occasionally. Think, for example, of borrowing a tent for a weekend getaway or a standing table for a party. The platform allows users to make items available to people in their neighborhood, or even just to individual addresses. Items can also be temporarily "paused," for example, if they have already been borrowed or when someone goes on vacation.

Registration and Participation
Starting October 10, 2025, Leiden residents are invited to register with LeidenLeent and share or lend their belongings through the platform. Registration is easy and free at leidenleent.nl, and users can immediately start offering or searching for items in their area. David hopes that LeidenLeent will create a larger community of sustainable and helpful residents, where people not only share items but also build a stronger social network. “LeidenLeent is not only practical, but also a way to make our city even more cohesive and sustainable,” says David.
