Doe mee met Paddenpatrouille Leiden / Join the Leiden Toad Patrol
24.01.2026 : Vanaf februari 2026 komen de padden uit hun winterslaap en beginnen ze aan de voorjaarstrek. Paddenpatrouille KNNV Leiden gaat ze weer een handje helpen op 8 locaties in Leiden, Leiderdorp en Oegstgeest. English follows the Dutch text
Padden en salamanders worden vaak doodgereden, doordat ze in het donker op trek gaan en na de winterslaap erg langzaam lopen. De Paddenpatrouille zet ze handmatig over en houdt bij hoeveel padden, kikkers en salamanders er langskomen.
Nieuwe vrijwilligers (14+) zijn van harte welkom als ze van 10 februari tot 10 april ongeveer een avond per week vrij kunnen maken. Op onze website kun je binnenkort vinden wanneer onze twee instructieavonden (eind januari begin februari) plaatsvinden.
Deelname aan een van de twee instructieavonden, is verplicht. Vanaf dan kunnen vrijwilligers zichzelf ook inroosteren, liefst op een vaste locatie en vaste avond.

Leiden Toad Patrol Launches
Starting in February 2026, toads will emerge from hibernation and begin their spring migration. The Leiden Toad Patrol (KNV Leiden) will be lending a helping hand at eight locations in Leiden, Leiderdorp, and Oegstgeest. Toads and salamanders are often run over because they migrate in the dark and walk very slowly after hibernation. The Toad Patrol will manually transfer them and track how many toads, frogs, and salamanders pass by.
New volunteers (14+) are welcome if they can spare approximately one evening a week from February 10th to April 10th. Our website will soon list the dates of our two training evenings (late January/early February).
Attendance at one of the two training evenings is mandatory. From then on, volunteers can also schedule their own visits, preferably at a fixed location and on a fixed evening.
