02.09.2026 : Leiden is een echte fietsstad. De gemeente Leiden stimuleert dit ook. Of het nu gaat om fietsen naar school, werk, sport, het station of de binnenstad. Maar hoe veilig is fietsen in Leiden eigenlijk? En wat kunnen de gemeente, inwoners van Leiden en andere betrokkenen doen om de stad veiliger te maken voor fietsers?
English follows the Dutch text De Rekenkamer Leiden & Leiderdorp heeft onderzoek gedaan naar de fietsveiligheid in Leiden. Omdat fietsveiligheid niet alleen een onderwerp is voor het gemeentebestuur, de politie en hulpverleners, maar voor iedereen die zich door de stad verplaatst, organiseert de Rekenkamer een interactieve bijeenkomst voor inwoners, ondernemers en andere betrokkenen.

Tijdens deze interactieve avond presenteren we de uitkomsten van het onderzoek, bekijken we praktijkvoorbeelden en gaan we met u in gesprek over wat de resultaten betekenen voor Leiden en hoe we samen de stad veiliger kunnen maken voor fietsers.

Cycling Safety in Leiden
Leiden is a true cycling city. The Municipality of Leiden encourages this as well, whether it concerns cycling to school, work, sports, the station, or the city center. But how safe is cycling in Leiden actually? And what can the municipality, residents of Leiden, and other stakeholders do to make the city safer for cyclists?

The Leiden & Leiderdorp Audit Office has conducted research into cycling safety in Leiden. Because cycling safety is not only a topic for the municipal administration, the police, and emergency services, but for everyone moving through the city, the Audit Office is organizing an interactive meeting for residents, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.

During this interactive evening, we will present the findings of the research, look at practical examples, and discuss with you what the results mean for Leiden and how we can work together to make the city safer for cyclists.
